Alchemy 2013 Event Lead Callout - All hands on deck!


 

Alchemists, There’s no beatin’ around the bush here. Currently, due to Rebecca’s resignation, the Alchemy 2013 event is without an Event Lead, and is in danger of not happening in 2013. The Board of Directors has set a deadline of April 30th to assemble an Event Lead Team capable of managing Alchemy event for 2013. If the BOD does not receive enough qualified applicants to lead the team by then, then there will be no Alchemy 2013. Let’s go over that once more. If the BOD is unable to assemble a qualified Event Lead Team by April 30th, Alchemy 2013 will not happen. Let that sink in for a minute. Ok, now that you're back with us, let's talk shop. Much as Burning Man itself is an experiment in community building, so too is Alchemy. This current challenge is simply a new chapter in that experiment: Does this community have the will to come forward and meet this challenge for the benefit of all? We believe it does! We believe this community can accomplish anything it sets its collective mind to. That said, leading an event the size of Alchemy is no easy job nor should it be taken lightly. It is challenging and it is time consuming. It is also extremely rewarding, and are not alone. We are here to help, and we want you to succeed. We will be here to provide you guidance and support, and empower you to make this the best Alchemy ever. We are confident that the skills exist within this community to do this job. There's also the option of working as a support staff to the Event Lead Team. What this job entails exactly is still under works, but you'd essentially be assisting in anything the Event Leads need you for. Sending emails, collecting quotes, sitting in on team meetings.. anything! We want to offer this option to those of you that have the drive and the skills, but maybe not the same level of time to devote as a full Event Lead.  So, perhaps now you’re thinking “Ok, I want to apply for this job! What’s that entail?” Well, to an extent, we want you to tell us.   What kind of event do you want to run? What vision do you have for the event? What size event are you comfortable running? What does Alchemy 2013 look like to you? Not sure? Don't worry, we can help you find these answers” Something else to think about... you won’t be in this alone. We’re looking for different people with a wide variety of skills. Are you great with budgets and purchase order tracking, but the idea of negotiating porta potty prices terrifies you? No problem! We’ll get someone else for that! We’re looking to build a team that is greater than the sum of it’s parts. An Event Lead Team needs all types, and if you believe that you’re one of those types, we want you. You can fill out the Event Lead application here. But don’t think of this as a traditional job application. We’re willing and happy to work with you to mold the job to the personality, vision, and skill set of you and your Event Lead Team. There is no magic list of "qualifications" here.
