Location and Ticket Information for Alchemy 2016
This has been one of the most trying years for Flashpoint Artists Initiative and the rest of the Georgia burn community. After Alchemy 2015, we needed to move from our original home of Cherokee Farms. Accomplishing the move to Lavender Farms along with the resounding success that was Euphoria 2016 was truly a feat of extraordinary magnitude, one that everyone should feel proud about.
The trials are far from over. When looking for new land, one primary objective was to find people with whom we could collaborate, to work with beyond a typical client-vendor relationship. Cherokee Farms was far more than just a venue for us, and the relationship that was built with the landowner and the land contributed so much to why our burns are so great. That’s what we want. That’s what we need for our burns to continue to have the magic that they do. While early indications were positive that we could have this again with Lavender Farms, it has become clear that we are not a good fit for Lavender Farms, nor they for us.
Therefore, the FAI Board of Directors has voted to no longer use Lavender Farms for any future events. With a change in venue also comes a slight change in dates. We know that this puts a wrench into many people’s plans, and we apologize for that. This year has brought a wealth of new challenges for everyone, and we’re doing our absolute best to take them all in stride, one at a time.
With that said, we are proud and excited to announce that, this year, Alchemy will take place from October 13th - 17th at Little Big Jam, 325 Daniel Road, Bowdon GA! This land was vetted during the original land search and was our second choice should Lavender Farms not work out.
We are continuing to look for more permanent land options. We are pursuing the purchase of land by community members to partner with FAI in providing a stable, long-term home for our events. We have the people who can do this, but we need the right land. We have several good options so far, but welcome input! We are also certainly open to renting land as well. We need 100+ acres, preferably with utilities service and swimmable water, and at least 40 acres open fields within 2 hour radius of Atlanta. If you know of any land for sale or rent that would fit these criteria, please let us know! If you'd like to help out with the Land Search Committee, go here for more information.
There will be 3 tiers of ticket sales, totaling to 2,700 tickets, on the following dates. All times are Eastern Time.
- 900 tickets on Tuesday, July 5th at 8:00 PM
- 900 tickets on Friday, July 22nd at 7:00 PM
- 900 tickets on Saturday, August 6th at Noon.
Tickets will cost $90. There will be 30 additional tickets set aside as scholarship tickets. More info on those soon!
Lowering the cap from last year was a difficult decision to make, and one that we were not at all excited about. But we felt that such a reduction was necessary.
A lower cap means that there’s less money to run the event. To keep ticket prices from going up significantly, ourselves and the Board of Directors have been working hard on making cuts to the event budget. Don’t worry, we haven’t touched what makes Alchemy the unique and... explosive... event that it is.
The chaos and uncertainty this year has been rough on everyone. We know you’ve been frustrated with continuing to hear “more info coming soon!”, and we’ve been just as frustrated with having to keep saying it. Things may look scattered and disorganized, and they are to some degree. But know that we have this, and we know you do too. We want to thank everyone for their patience and continued faith in themselves, the theme camps, the community at large, the Org, and the unbreakable unshakable force that is Alchemy.
