Media

Lead - Moose

media@alchemyburn.com

The Media Team (formerly Photography) has been created to make sure that we get high quality photos and videos of the art, burns and participants at the burn. Photography is a little different. You can sign up for a shift if you want, or you can just wander around taking cool pictures on your own. The shifts we list are for specific things we would like photos or video of.

Basic responsibilities for a photographer are simple: Take pictures. Respect the members of our community who don't want to be photographed. Post the photos in public so that everyone else can see them. Provide contact info with the photos. Take down any photos upon request of the people in those photos.

Want to be extra helpful?  We have a few specific things we really need help with:

  • Art Photographers - There's a whole lot of cool art at Alchemy.  We need more good pictures of it.  Sign up for a shift as an art photographer and wander around taking pictures of it.  Art team will provide a list of art installation we know of, and guidelines on when to shoot it (some stuff may be day or night specific)
  • Conclave Photographers - There's a lot of people spinning fire before the burn.  They always need more people to take cool photos.
  • Effigy Burn Photographers - Pretty simple.  Big thing is burning.  Take pictures of it.
  • Temple Burn Photographers - If you're up that early (of that late)
  • Sunset photographers - When the sun is setting and the light is right, everything just glows and it's beautiful.  When that happens, we want to see it.

Want to lead Media at a future burn?

Below are some expectations and requirements of team leads. Do not be scared by all this stuff! We have pretty solid support and resource systems to help you with this, especially if this is your first time leading a team.

General Team Lead Expectations:
  • Attend the monthly Team Lead meetings. If you do not live close enough to Atlanta, we require that you have a Co-Lead who can attend.
  • Submit a budget for the team.
  • Attend build weekend/week if required for your team.
  • Set up a volunteer schedule in coordination with the volunteer coordinator.
  • Attend the daily Team Lead meetings during the event.
  • Assign one person (either a Team Lead or an experienced volunteer) to assist with breaking down the team's infrastructure. This team member must remain onsite until their team's assets have been completely broken down and turned over to Teardown/Public Works.
  • Complete post-event report submitted 3 weeks after the event.
  • Attend Radio training
