Inclement Weather Update

To our cherished community of Alchemists,

Hurricane Helene

Last week, Hurricane Helene swept across the Southeast. There’s untold loss of life and property, and we’re still learning of the destruction that was caused. Some of our community members in the mountains and more rural regions we have yet to hear from, and don’t know if they’re safe. We especially hold our communities in Knoxville and Asheville in our hearts as they continue to recover from the storm.

We acknowledge that different burners start with different opportunities, including varying access to education, time, technology, safety, and security. Furthermore, we also acknowledge that the power to access and shape resources is more available to those who are white, male, straight, wealthy, cis, able-bodied, and/or neurotypical.

In times of emergency, centering this truth is most important because it also affects how the community recovers. We are learning (and unlearning) how to support all members of our community, and to continue growing together. We invite discussion and suggestions for doing this.

Mutual Aid

How can we help? Here’s a list of support options for our fellow burners in need. We try our best to do due diligence with verifying community support, and we kindly suggest you do the same. If you have questions, you can email d6@alchemyburn.com.
