The regular volunteer spots for Burn Weekend will remain open only until the end of the day, on Sunday, the 13th. If you haven't signed up for a shift yet, please do so. Your 2024 Pocket Guide

This year’s pocket guide is being hosted on the Dust app. Download the dust app by following the link: https://dust.events/  This is your portable guide to all the places and things at the burn!

There are some important things to note about when and how to download the app and select the Alchemy event:

  • You can download the app at any time

    • Some data may be publicly visible before the 14th due to how the upload process works. All information visible before the 14th is a work in progress and may change – as such, please don’t post questions based on what you’re seeing in Dust before the 14th.

  • Be sure to open Alchemy in the app after Monday, the 14th, but before you get onsite.

    • Uploads are in progress, so the app won’t be ready before the 14th. However not opening it before being onsite puts you at risk of cell coverage issues. So make sure you download the app in that sweet spot between October 14th, but before you are on site. Once the app is downloaded, it will work offline.

If all of this is too much fear not we will be posting a printable version on Monday, October 14th!

Some cool features of the app:

  • The app will give you the ability to store the location of your camp

  • set reminders for yourself

  • use live navigation to find theme camps, art, and events at the burn.

Even with all this excellent planning we have coordinated here events still run on burner time so times may vary from the app!

Official Alchemy 2024 Map

Hey Alchemists! Your Beloved City Planning Department (tm) is relieved, excited, and positively pumped to finally release your city map for ALCHEMY 2024 – LIGHTING THE VOID. https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1w_IWHkUlga7BxhHiWCudg0Gnu59tZoc&ll=33.6504426071091%2C-84.68844899999999&z=16

As you review, we’d like to share some important reminders with you: · PARKING – when you leave your vehicle in our parking lot, PLEASE do not back in – your vehicle’s hood should be facing inward. This is a city requirement. We WILL find you otherwise.

· VOLUNTEERING – please do it! This engine is fueled by burners like you and me. If your shift requires a radio, please make sure you are trained by completing the course linked here: https://flashpoint-artists-initiative.github.io/training/

· SOUND CAMPS – due to policy changes in collaboration with hosts at Chattahoochee Hills, we are asking sound camps to orient their speakers towards the southern tree line. In most cases, your placement should make this straightforward, and our Sound team is available to help you make this work.

· TEARDOWN – as you LNT your site, please MOOP placement tape around your camp area on your way out. Please pile placement stakes somewhere visible – like next to a lamp pole or porto bank for example. Thank you for your help!

With that said, we are signing off to go build this city. We are eager and excited to see you there!

Thank you,

Your Beloved City Planning Team (tm)

Inclement Weather Update

To our cherished community of Alchemists,

Hurricane Helene

Last week, Hurricane Helene swept across the Southeast. There’s untold loss of life and property, and we’re still learning of the destruction that was caused. Some of our community members in the mountains and more rural regions we have yet to hear from, and don’t know if they’re safe. We especially hold our communities in Knoxville and Asheville in our hearts as they continue to recover from the storm.

We acknowledge that different burners start with different opportunities, including varying access to education, time, technology, safety, and security. Furthermore, we also acknowledge that the power to access and shape resources is more available to those who are white, male, straight, wealthy, cis, able-bodied, and/or neurotypical.

In times of emergency, centering this truth is most important because it also affects how the community recovers. We are learning (and unlearning) how to support all members of our community, and to continue growing together. We invite discussion and suggestions for doing this.

Mutual Aid

How can we help? Here’s a list of support options for our fellow burners in need. We try our best to do due diligence with verifying community support, and we kindly suggest you do the same. If you have questions, you can email d6@alchemyburn.com.
